Temporary caretaker appointed for Ruhunu Kataragama Devalaya
View(s):Seethaka Dilruwan Rajapakse has been named as the temporary caretaker of the Ruhunu Maha Kataragama Devalaya in the Moneragala District.
The appointment, with effect from April 9, has been made by Buddhist Affairs Commissioner General Nimal Kotawalagedara in terms of the powers vested in him by the Buddhist Vihara and Devalagam Ordinance of 1931, the Department of Buddhist Affairs said.
Earlier this week, Buddha Sasana Minister Gamini Jayawickreme Perera said he had suspended the Devale’s Basnayake Nilame D. P. Kumarage for three months.
