The Cranberries are to release their final album later this year. The move comes following the sudden death of their lead vocalist Dolores O’ Riodon in January aged 46. The band says Dolores recorded her vocals for new material before her death.

The website of Zayn Malik crashed after his new song was shared free. Zayn decided to share his new song ‘Don’t Matter (Remix)’ on March 11 after he took to social media to say it was being shared free as it was leaked online. As fans took to get the track in the thousands his website crashed.

A nun who took on pop singer Katy Perry in courts in a bid to stop the sale of a former convent in Los Angeles has died. The 89 year old Sister Catherine Holzman collapsed and died on 9th March during a post judgement hearing. She was one of two nuns who battled Perry in courts for three years over the sale of the former Los Feliz convent.

The wrong death announcement of Dame Shirley Bassey caused a flurry of messages of sympathy only to be corrected by her representative who issued a statement to say the veteran artist was alive. The shock wrong announcement was made by Mike D’ abo a former member of Manfred Mann during a show in Cardiff, Wales on 7th March. Shirley Bassey is best known for the Bond movie songs like ‘Goldfinger’, ‘Diamonds Are Forever’ and ‘Moonraker’.

Liam Payne gave a special item at the Commonwealth Day service held at London’s Westminster Abbey on 12th March. Payne performed an acoustic cover of John Mayer’s ‘Waiting On The World To Change’ at the service which was attended by the Queen, other royal family members, Prime Minister Theresa May and Commonwealth dignitaries.

Sir Elton John has saluted the NME magazine as it published its last print issue on 9th March. He took to social media to say that thanks to an advertisement he placed in the magazine he was able to meet Bernie Taupin with whom he went on to write most of his hit songs and that changed his life forever. The NME was first published in 1952 and pioneered the compilation of the first UK chart for music in November 1952.

Rap star Drake is firmly in control of the No: 1 spot on the UK singles chart for a seventh week with his song ‘God’s Plan’. The song’s long stay at the top has meanwhile held up Rudimental’s ‘These Days’ at the No: 2 spot for five weeks. The song features Jess Glynne, Macklemore and Dan Caplen. Meanwhile Dua Lipa’s hit ‘IDGAF’ remained unchanged at the No: 3 spot for three consecutive week.
