Creative energies soar to new heights when the passion for art is pursued in paradise. Imagine painting in a pop up atelier of a renowned artist or in the privacy of your own room or villa. At Anantara Peace Haven Tangalle Resort, art connoisseurs and enthusiasts can look forward to feasting their visual senses with an artist-in-residence programme which will be launched in collaboration with internationally acclaimed Sri Lankan artist Anoma Wijewardene from 8 – 15 January 2018, a media release issued by the resort stated.

Guests can tap into their inner talents and express the beauty of the magnificent surroundings of the resort in a personal masterpiece. Anoma will be offering daily sketch classes within the resort premises and also private tutorials. Guests of all ages will benefit from the expertise of the artist-in-residence and receive guidance on creating their work. All materials will be provided and each piece can be brought home as a spectacular holiday souvenir, it was noted.

The resorts atelier is located amidst a 21-acre coconut plantation that opens onto a golden sweep of beach. The picturesque beach and the Indian Ocean create the ideal backdrop for a stimulating open air studio. Anoma encourages visitors to drop by in her open studio, while she paints or for an informal chat. Anoma will be painting during the day, and some of her works will be exhibited around the resort. Guests can also buy her work, paintings, prints and cards, to adorn their walls at home, or share with friends, a splendid way to relive memories of their Sri Lankan paradise escape, the release said.

Anoma has exhibited at Sotheby’s Gallery Hong Kong and The Art Fair London. Her numerous solo exhibitions have included those in London, Sydney, New Delhi, Kuala Lumpur and The Maldives as well as group exhibitions in Brisbane, Singapore and Dubai.
