Golden Star for Pushpadana
View(s):The Under-14 hockey team of Pushpadana Girls School Kandy excelled to bag the ‘Golden Star’ award at the 17th Sri Lanka Schools Hockey Carnival 2017 for Boys and Girls Under-14 which was concluded at Asgiriya stadium in Kandy.
The junior hockey carnival conducted by the Sri Lanka Schools Hockey Association together with Kandy Schools Hockey Committee saw 35 girls teams across the island taking part in the three-day tournament. The girls teams were divided in to five groups and the top three teams in each group were awarded gold, silver and bronze medals.
Competing in the group ‘D’ Pushpadana girls beat Viharamaha Devi Girls Kandy 2-0 and then drew with Musaeus Colombo 0-0, Balangoda MV 0-0 and Vijaya College Matale 0-0 to end up as group leaders.
The team was coached by N.M. Fazil while K.P. Tennakoon is the teacher-in-charge.
