Sri Lanka’s advertising trends have drastically shifted from traditional to digital advertising behaviour within a short span of time.

While advertising is revolutionising the world on a mass scale, there are certain important elements that give the feel and touch of any product that is advertised.

Creativity, paying attention to detail, time, commitment and telling the real story behind the brand are some of the factors that help a product to survive and become well known globally.

Some of these thoughts were shared during the launch of Saatchi and Saatchi, a UK-based global communications and advertising agency, in Colombo on Monday at the Hilton Colombo. The company is a subsidiary of Publicis Groupe, a French multinational advertising and public relations company.

L&K Saatchi and Saatchi India, CEO and Managing Partner, Anil Nair, on the sidelines of the launch of the company, told the Business Times, “Sri Lanka has the potential and drive to reach great heights in terms of advertising, may it be traditional or digital.” There is competition among international and local advertising agencies in any country, but showcasing the talent, uniqueness and in-depth value of a brand is what that can keep an agency strong enough, he added.

Speaking at the launch, Publicis Communications South Asia, Saurabh Varma stated that the establishment of Saatchi and Saatchi will not only strengthen the Publicis Groupe’s footprint in Sri Lanka, but add value to marketing communications industry in the country. “We will be able to strategically expand and offer best-in-class creative solutions to even more clients and brands in the country,” added Mr. Varma.

Saatchi and Saatchi was launched in 1970. What commenced as a start-up advertising agency has evolved into a global creative communications company that is still on a strong growth trajectory. The agency is in the business of getting people to fall in love with their clients’ products and services and delivers creative ideas across all media and disciplines. The agency believes passionately in the power that ideas have to differentiate, fuel motivation and change the world for the better.
