The teams to qualify to the quarter-finals of the Cup, Bowl and Shield categories of the All Island inter-schools U14 rugby tournament were found after the completion of the round robin matches that were played at the Royal Sports Complex ground in Reid Avenue and Zahira ground in Maradana.

The surprise of the tournament was Piliyandala MMV who made it to last 16 of the Cup segment while fancied teams such as Royal, Isipathana and Kingswood were pushed to the Bowl segment.

The two day tournament conducted by the Sri Lanka Schools Rugby Football Association and sponsored by Nestle Lanka Ltd saw the participation of 32 teams around the island divided into eight groups of four teams in each.

The quarter-finals are scheduled to be get underway from 8.20 a.m. onwards and all the matches will be played at the Royal Sports Complex ground.

The semi-finals are scheduled to played from 1.00 p.m. and four finals are slotted to be played from 3.45pm onwards.

Today’s quarter-final schedule:

Cup: DSS vs Science. St. Joseph’s vs St. Anthony’s, Piliyandala MMV vs St. Peter’s, Trinity vs Zahira

Bowl: Royal Colombo vs St. Benedict’s, Vidyartha vs Wesley, Dharmaraja vs Thurstan, Kingswood vs Isipathana

Shield: Ananda vs Prince of Wales, Nalanda vs Maliyadeva, Veluwana MV vs Sri Sumangala, Lumbini MV  vs Mahanama Colombo.
