The excitement is building up as can be seen from these pictures at the Miss Elegance mini-pageant held at the Tiesh jewellery store earlier this month.

It’s all happening on Sunday, September 24 at the Grand Ballroom of the Hilton Colombo from 6.30 pm onwards when the Crown Miss Intercontinental pageant reaches its grand climax.   Tickets are available at JAT Tech Center Nawala, Commons Coffee House and Park Street Mews, priced at Rs 7,000 and include a pre-event reception. Every table of ten gets some scrumptious canapes, petit fours and bottles of beverage guaranteed to put you in high spirits.

The evening promises to be one of extraordinary entertainment with 16 beautiful and intelligent contestants walking the ramp vying for the Rs 1.2 Mn crown, Spirit of Elegance – Blue Water.  The contestants will be seen in the national costume parade which will also herald the winner of the Battle of the Designers: who will design the national costume for the global pageant in December. Then there’s the Swimsuit contest, before the finale in which the contestants will parade in evening gowns.

All mini-pageant titles will also be announced that evening including Miss Body Beautiful, Miss Photogenic, Miss Fitness, Miss Personality, Miss Congeniality, Miss Talent and Miss Elegance.  The winners of the Mini Pageants for Miss Personality and Miss Elegance are selected at receptions held by the sponsors of the respective titles.

Each mini-pageant and the final pageant has independent judges according to the guidelines given by the Miss Intercontinental organisation.  The results of all mini-pageants and the Coronation Pageant are monitored, analysed and audited by E&Y.

Highlighting the pageant’s axiom of ‘Going Beyond Beauty’, a surprise title will also be announced at the final placing the spotlight on the cause, the Heavena Residential Shelter for Abused, Trafficked and Homeless Women.
