Singing some of their favourite songs
The Senior, Intermediate and Junior choirs of Subashini Talwatte all brimming with talent are looking forward to performing the well-loved melodies of the Rodgers and Hammerstein musical The Sound of Music at the “Sound of Music”, a musical extravaganza and sing along concert presented by Symphony (Pvt.) Ltd on Saturday, July 29 at the BMICH Banquet Hall at 7 p.m.
The seniors and the intermediates will take the stage with “Morning Hymn and Alleluia”, “Maria” and a dramatized version of “I have confidence” along with “The Lonely Goatherd” and “Edelweiss” .The junior choristers on “Do-Re-Mi”, “Favourite Things” and the “Farewell song” will remind the audience of the Von Trapp children.
All- island winners and talented sopranos, Naduni Abeywardene in the title song “Sound of Music” and Piyumi Wijewickrama singing “Climb Every Mountain” as Mother Abbess, will entertain the audience with their vocal skills.
Chaniru Seneviratne and Nisumi Grero will showcase a dramatized version of the duet, “Sixteen Going on Seventeen” recalling the summer house scene of Liesl von Trapp and Rolfe in the film.
“I’m glad to be a part of a show which is done for charity. It’s a pleasure for me to work with the kids and the classical songs of “The Sound of Music” will be ideal for them to showcase their talents as they are nurtured in the classical voice,” says Ms. Talwatte accompanying her choir on the piano.
