The Lankaputra Development Bank celebrated its 11th anniversary at its headquarters in Colombo recently.

Chairman Ruwan Gallage and officials of the senior management are participating in the all religious observances and obtaining blessings. Acting GM /CEO Ranjith Dissanayake is also in the picture.

The ceremony was headed by present Chairman of the Bank Ruwan Gallage and officials of senior management including Acting General Manager/ CEO Ranjith Dissanayake and working Director of the Bank Thuan Riza Hameed were also present at the occasion, a media release issued by the bank stated.

In line with the 11th anniversary celebration at the headquarters, ceremonies were organised at other branches of the LDB as well.

Expressing views, at the event, at the headquarters, Mr. Gallage said the LDB which was initiated in 2006, has planned a long journey in the Development Banking sector. Having been established, with the objective of encouraging the small and medium scale entrepreneurs, the LDB has identified the current challenges in the banking sector and proper solutions will be given to all these issues.

He added that the LDB as a development oriented bank will be committed to provide more flexible service to the public.
The LDB has opened branches in Colombo, Hambantota, Polonnaruwa, Kandy, Kegalle, Wennappuwa, Batticaloa and Trincomalee at present. These branches are rendering a unique service to the small and medium scale entrepreneurs (SMEs) in these areas, it was noted.

The LDB grants attractive interest rates for the savings and especially higher interest rates are paid for the fixed deposits of senior citizens. In addition leasing facilities, pawning service, ‘Sandaliya’ savings account for women, ‘Shasthri’ education loan scheme for the individuals to pursue in their higher education sector are some special services carried out by the LDB at present. The ‘Shasthri’ loan scheme provides concessionary loans for persons to follow degree courses, postgraduate degrees and vocational education in reputed universities and higher education institutes in Sri Lanka as well as overseas.
