‘Subavitha’, an evening of music is organised to celebrate the golden jubilee of D. S. Senanayake College Colombo on June 17 at the Nelum Pokuna Theatre.

Organised by the D. S. Senanayake Old boys Association, the musical concert features three veteran artistes T. M. Jayaratne, Sunil Edirisinghe and Deepika Priyadarshani Peiris.

Music backing is by Jayantha Ratnayake, an old boy of the College and it is compered by Hema Nalin Karunaratne.

D. S. Senanayake College, a school named after Sri Lanka’s first Prime Minister was started on February 10, 1967 by late educationist R. I. T. Alles. Opened with just 167 students in an area known as ‘Kumbi Kele’ in Colombo 7, today this college is one of the leading boys’ schools with more than 7000 students representing different ethnic and religious groups.

The school is well reputed for its ethnic and religious harmony and has produced a large number of academics, professionals and popular figures for the country.

While a number of grand events have been organised by the OBA, the organising of the ‘Subavitha’ is done by the Old Boys Group of 2013 under the leadership of Kasun Pasquel.

Tickets are available at Sarasavi bookshops, Sadeepa-Borella, Wanapetha bookshop Dehiwela, Yamaha Music Centre, Ranfer Tea Shop Colombo and through
