An official felicitation was organised for two famous cricketers by the Past Cricketers Association of their school. Invitations were sent and none of them had informed of their availability. One had put spin if he gets the visa, he may go abroad while had arrived on the night of the ceremony. But none of them had informed their inability to be present on day of the felicitation. On that day the organisers had been at the venue with garlands on the ready but none of the guests turned up. It was an effort ALL IN VAIN.

ALL ON THE SLY

Almost Big Shots in sports get official vehicles which they have to return when their term expires. This Big Shot, however, has been maintaining his vehicle, with fuel from the sports body that he is attached to even after becoming the head of the sport. He received this vehicle when he was a paid employee of the sports body. When he became an honorary official, he has to hand over the vehicle. But it never happened. To make matters worse, his son has been using the vehicle and the son had met with an accident. This too has not been reported to the Sport Body. The accident has not been reported and it is being repaired through insurance at a private garage. This too without the knowledge of the sports body who owns the vehicle.

SWEETHEART RETURNS

There is this story of The Sweetheart who had been ousted from the school’s sports body that he was attached as he is too busy to attend to matters of the association. The sports body concerned had ousted him stating that he does not fulfil requirements to become an official. He was replaced by another who even took the head table at a recent event where a top brass of the Education thing was also present. Later on the Education boss had lambasted some of the officials for trying to shoot through a loophole that was later proved wrong. These officials kept mum nodding their heads to the Education boss, who was not aware they were the men behind the operation. Meanwhile The Sweetheart has proven his credentials with proven documents for the accusation made by his colleagues by approaching the Education house and is back in the scene at the same position. Some even wonder if it’s a big joke.

THE PRESS AND OFFICIALS

No doubt some of the schools playing Oval Ball games have produced some exhilarating games but the way the press is being treated at these matches is causing a lot of heartburn. For instance the press seats are elsewhere and sometimes there are no press seats at all! It would be ideal if the press seats are near the officials table enabling pressmen to obtain the details. Officials sometimes say to come at half time or at the end of game to get details. This is a cumbersome affair. Will some attempt be made to seat the press together with the officials table? It will ease the job of the journalists to a great extent. At present the boys on the bench are a great help in obtaining the names of players who score tries for their respective schools.
