‘Outside my window’ – an exhibition of water colour paintings by Champika Nuwan Gunawardhana will be on at the Lionel Wendt Gallery (9 a.m. to 8 p.m.) from March 3-5.

The young artist who specialises in water colours says the natural environment, buildings and human behaviour have been the focus of his paintings for a long time. “I spend a silent experimental period, studying the art works of local and foreign craftsmen. As a result, the phenomena in the outer world of my life, automatically become my creations.

Within the different periods of the day man is engaged in various behavioural patterns of rural and urban life, and he comes across a variety of things in his environment, he elaborates. He develops social relationships, fulfils the needs of customers.

“However everything in nature does not react to human process and everything reacts constantly to the changes of the climate and natural phenomena. This is what I try to depict in my paintings,” says the artist.
