During Yudhish Attanayake’s early childhood, he was shy and never even wanted to confront people. He would hide behind his mother and look down at the floor. Never did he imagine that one day he’d be singing in front of thousands of people, looking right into their eyes.

At the age of 10 things changed when a new music teacher in school, inspired the young Yudish to sing.  That’s when he discovered he had a voice, and thus, began the journey of music.  Yudhish was born in Sri Lanka and migrated to California.  He  performs under the stage name of ‘Wizard Y’ and has some new tracks coming out this year.

“To me, music is energy. A force that flows in everyone and speaks to everyone at a universal level. I love how a beat makes you tap your feet and nod your head and how a certain voice can  take you 20 years into the past. I love creating that feeling and energy, and sharing it with the rest of the world. I love how it lets me connect with the world, ” he explained via an email interview.

Being in  California,  he says has helped him develop his style of music. One of the best experiences he says was meet his producer Tal Ariel in San Fransisco. Soon after he showed him the idea of his song, “Perfect One,” he simply made magic out of it. “It was unbelievable how he brought to life every single note that was running in my head. The entire process of recording it, making the music, the craftsmanship which was portrayed, balancing every aspect, driving daily to San Fransisco, and creating a perfect track right there in America, simply blew me away”, he said.

He is working on a few rap songs at the moment and taking a break from the Pop/Soul genre.

“I always stress on the fact that when you’re creating a piece of work, you have to make it of value to the people who listen. If you’re able to fully connect to your fans through your music, then you’ve done justice to your artistry.” His advice to young and aspiring artists: If you don›t love it, don›t do it. And if you decide you love it, make sure you›re making work full of quality and value. If you know music is in your blood, then keep going till you›ve met your destination. He adds that there will be those who don’t always appreciate one’s efforts. “Don’t get discouraged, and don’t back down. Jim Rohn, said “If you don’t design your own life plan, chances are you’ll fall into someone else’s plan. And guess what they have planned for you? Not much.”
