Plans are underway to open a television channel solely dedicated for reconciliation. The TV channel affiliated to Sri Lanka Rupavahini Corporation (SLRC) is to be started with Rs. 180 million allocated from the budget.

The agreement related to this important endevour was signed between National Intergration Ministry Secretary V. Sivagnanaothy and SLRC chairman Ravi Jayawardena.

The allocation of frequency for this channel was given on January 8, the day of the second anniversary of President Maithirpala Sirisena taking office.

The financial allocation to buy equipment is to be provided from the 2017 budget. Aiming to build  a country with lasting peace and reconciliation, the channel is planned to be launched in the year 2017.
