Nuthana Kumaraya (modern Prince) is a collection of articles mainly focusing on the issues of governance — critiques of the ‘ideologies’ on which the current government is based. The book also discusses the ongoing debate on the ‘future of the SLFP’ and the influence of such debate on democratic governance in Sri Lanka.

Author Charitha Herath says the contents of the book were his responses to the ongoing political discussion. He also says the articles were written after the new government took office in January 2015.

Mr. Herath is a senior lecturer at the Department of Philosophy and Psychology at the University of Peradeniya. He was in the public sector as the Permanent Secretary (2012-2015) to the Ministry of Media and Information in the Mahinda Rajapaksa government. Prior to that, Mr. Herath was heading the Central Environmental Agency (2010-2012).

Mr. Herath holds post-graduates degrees from the Ohio University in Athens, Ohio in the United States (2000-2003) and the Shichuan Union University in Chengdu, China (1997-99).
