With a flurry of new hotel openings in Colombo amidst stresses at the partially-closed Bandaranaike International Airport till April 6, a major tourism conference is also taking place in May.

The Pacific Asia Travel Association (PATA) annual summit is being held on May 18-21 in Negombo, bringing together international thought leaders, industry shapers, and senior decision-makers. The event is expected to attract 200 to 400 delegates from 30+ countries.

New hotel openings this year include the already-opened Movenpick at Kollupitiya, Jetwing Colombo 7 on January 27 at Ward Place and Shangri-La Hotel, Colombo during the second half of 2017.
