Blue Mountain’s ‘Achilleion’ apartment breaks ground

The much-awaited Blue Mountain 7-star luxury apartment complex in Colombo, ‘Achilleion’ broke ground on Thursday. With an investment of Rs. 30 billion the two 50 storeyed skyscrapers with 684 apartments will be completed by 2020. President Maithripala Sirisena, who was scheduled to attend the event as per the invitations sent out to invitees, didn’t attend. No reason was given by the organisers for his absence.

Minister of Megapolis and Western Development, Patali Champika Ranawaka, speaking at the event, said that while rapid economic development is taking place in the Asian region and the government is looking for Foreign Direct Investment, this project will do justice and change the skyline of Sri Lanka.

Blue Mountain Group  Chairman, Hiran Hettiarachchi said, “We have changed the real estate landscape in Sri Lanka taking a quantum leap in all businesses that we have been into. Not only by venturing into luxury spaces, but also by establishing an undisputed benchmark in super luxury living.” The complex is a status symbol and a reflection of refinement, he added.

“When designing the complex we introduced many a first luxury features like a sky bridge, a sky restaurant with a 360 degree view 170 metres above sea level and a 24/7 medical centre with a dedicated ambulance,” he elaborated. He also noted that it is the first ever heart-friendly apartment complex with defibrillators fixed on each floor, a concierge service, a super luxury limo service and a helicopter which will be owned by the residents.

“Commitment to professionalism, pioneering business model, innovative and creative product mix, due intelligence to industry norms and ethics were the cornerstones of our success stories,” noted Dr. Hettiarachchi.

Palmer and Turner Group of Singapore Director Richard Soon said  that they want Achilleion to be a landmark residential complex with modern design, open view and multitude of facilities. “Two years of intense designing over and over again has gone into the architecture of the complex,” he noted. The company is the architect of the project.

According to the media release, over 50 per cent of apartments was  sold before construction began. Apart from the high return on investment of this project, Achilleion will set the stage for new high value properties in Sri Lanka while boosting the appeal to attract foreign investors. The complex will be built on a Rs. 2.34 billion worth land which is one of the biggest land acquisitions in Sri Lanka down Station Road in Bambalapitiya.

There will be one, two or three bedroom apartments, duplexes and two penthouses with more than 85 per cent of the apartments enjoying the view of the Indian Ocean. The apartment units will feature smart technology, chic and lavish interiors and the finest fittings. (RM)
