YMBA scholarships for under privileged students in Borella
View(s):The Colombo YMBA Scholarship Awards Ceremony for Undergraduates and A/L students in the neighbourhood of the Colombo YMBA Borella will be held on January 28. This year too, the Colombo YMBA Trust Committee will award scholarships to a large number of deserving students – over 300 undergraduates and 75 GCE AL Students in the neighbourhood of the Colombo YMBA namely Ananda College, Nalanda College, Ananda Balika Vidyalaya, Devi Balika Vidyalaya, Gothami Balika Vidyalaya, Yashodara Balika Vidyalaya, D.S. Senanayake College, Ratnaveli Balika Vidyalaya & Susamayawardhana Vidyalaya.
These deserving students are recommended by the Principals of the schools. All University students are from the government Samurdhi Fund beneficiary families and are individually interviewed by the Colombo YMBA Trust Fund Committee headed by Anura Serasingha, Branch Secretary Trust Funds & Skills Development Committee, to select the most deserving out of 800 undergraduate applicants. The total scholarship awards value would exceed Rs 6.00 million.
The main funding is from the Colombo YMBA Trust Funds inclusive of Dr D. J. Attygalle Trust Fund, Matilda Hewavisenthi, and other individual Trust Funds as well as from donors who generously sponsor each year to give these bright and deserving students a helping hand each year.
This year too, the Colombo YMBA Trust Committee welcomes donors from the public who are willing to sponsor a student.
