Even though lottery sales agents called off a three day strike on Friday, many sales outlets remained shut forcing employees of the National Lotteries Board (NLB) to become salesmen.

The strike was called off on Friday after assurances from President Maithripala Sirisena that their grievances would be addressed, a spokesman for the All Ceylon Lottery Dealers’ Association (ACLDA) said.

Association members will hold a meeting with the President tomorrow.

Lottery agents say they are against the government decision to increase the price of a lottery from Rs.20 to Rs.30. as they say their commission has not increased on par with the increase.
