CR in runaway win against hapless CH

CR and FC made amends for their defeat at the hands of Kandy Sports Club last week, with a runaway 83 points (10 goals, two tries, one penalty) to 13 (two tries, one penalty) win over a hapless CH and FC outfit in their Dialog ‘A’ Division League Rugby Tournament match played at the Race Course grounds, yesterday after leading 43-8 at half time.
The Red Shirts dominated from the first whistle as they scored tries through scrum half Kavindu de Costa, winger Anuradha Herath and Number Eight Omalka Gunaratne.
CR led from the very start as they scored eight points through an unconverted try and a penalty while CH and FC scored three points through a penalty, which was put over by full back Wishva Dineth within the first 15 minutes.
Twenty minutes from the start, scrum half Kavindu de Costa burst through to touch down and full back Prince Chamara made no mistake with the conversion to make it 15-3.
After a long run by winger Thivanka Bandara touched down under the posts to score CH and FC’s first try before ‘lemons’.
In the second half, CR and FC maintained their dominance with tries from wingers Shashan Mohommed and Anuradha Herath, prop Shane Sambandapperuma, winger Randhira Warnapura and prop forward Charana Sendanayake.
CR’s full back Prince Chamara, who had a grand game involved in 10 conversions.
Nine minutes before the end, CH’s Kasun Srinath scored near the left corner flag for their second try.
