Kusal Edusuriya’s 145 with 19 boundaries and a six and a half tons by Buddika Hasaranga as Navy SC was set for an early outright win against Police SC when play stopped on day two in the Premier Tier B inter-club cricket encounter at Panagoda.

Kusal was involved in three valuable partnerships – first of 102 runs for the fourth wicket with Buddika the other of 67 runs for the fifth wicket with skipper Sameera Sandmal followed by a 69 runs for the seventh wicket with Dinushka Malan helping Navy SC amass a score of 376 from their overnight score of 289 for 7.

Police SC in their turn was made to struggle for their runs and they lost their top five wickets with the score of just 51 runs on the board before being bundled out for a paltry 86.

Police SC made to follow and left with a daunting task of erasing a massive deficit of 280 runs was again struggling on 93 for 5 needing another 187 runs with five wickets in hand to avoid from an innings defeat when play gets underway today.

The match between Kalutara PCC and Kurunegala YCC was poised for an interesting finish when play stopped on day two at Surrey  Village ground in Maggona.

Kalutara PCC in reply to Kurunegala YCC’s score of 197 resuming their first inning from their overnight score of 143 for 6 was bowled out for 192. Kalutara PCC though conceding a first inning lead fought back to restrict their opponents to a score of 151 in the second innings and set a target of 157 runs for victory ended day two on 88 for 4 and they need another 68 runs while Kurunegala YCC are left to take six wickets.

Lankan CC too has taken a first inning lead over Air Force  SC in the match played at Panagoda. Half tons by Maduranga Zoysa and Rajeewa Weerasinghe helped Lankan CC resuming from their overnight score of 30 for 1 to make a formidable score of 315 in reply to the Airmen’s 230.  - MSA
