What do horse racing and high fashion have in common? A recent fashion show proved that it might be more than you might think. Horse races are historically associated with the British aristocracy and races of the time drew crowds of well-dressed people, a tradition which still continues in post-colonial Nuwara Eliya during the racing season.

Last week, the Royal Turf Club partnered with the Sri Lanka Apparel Brands Association for the inaugural Royal Turf Club SLABA Runway, which is scheduled to be held annually. The event featured 20 well known Sri Lankan brands which showcased a variety of evening wear, sportswear and casualwear. The show was attended by representatives of leading apparel brands, fashion icons and professionals of the private and government sector.
