Jazz band ‘En Route’ are getting ready for their next concert , the ‘Great American Song Book” to be held on September 3 at the British School auditorium in Colombo.

En Route perform a weekly gig at the Cinnamon Grand lobby and if you chance to be there on  a Friday night, you will no doubt be familiar with their unique sound. This concert is a direct result of the many requests they receive when they perform – so expect popular standards like ‘Strangers in the Night’, ‘New York, New York’, “Almost like being in Love’, ‘I wish you love’ etc.

Vocalist/saxophonist Gananath Dasanayaka has been an ardent fan of Frank Sinatra and the big band swing type music. He counts Sinatra, Dean Martin, Bobby Darin and Nat King Cole as his favourites from childhood and not surprisingly the band’s first concert held in December 2015 was a sellout tribute to Ole’ Blue Eyes Frank Sinatra.

En Route comprises Gananath, pianist Debbie Arnolda, bassist Maxi Pietersz, drummer Niroshan de Silva and Ramesh Nonis.

Tickets are priced at Rs, 3,000, 2,000 and 1,000. Contact Niroshan 0714867699 or Gananath on 07772248500.
