The new production of late playwright Henry Jayasena’s renowned play “Kuweni” which was released as an experimental play during the 60’s will be staged at 3.30 pm and 6.45 pm today, August 14 at the Borella Namel Malini Punchi Theatre Borella. When first staged the play won six awards including the Best Drama at the National Drama Festival.

The new direction is done by Samudra Jeewani Karunananda.

With Nimal Jayasinghe, Lalith Janakantha, Anil K. Wijesinghe, Saliya Ilangakoon, Praba Dissanayake, Thilina Prabath , Tharanga Kumari and many other artistes in performance, musical direction is by of H. H. Bandara and lighting will be handled by Gayan Nalaka and Upali Weerasinghe respectively. With Sunil Hewavitharane’s makeup, Saliya Ilangakoon and Thilina Prabath’s stage management, the new production of the play is organised by Jude Sirimal on behalf of Nirmala Prakashana.
