Today the unexpected second outing between traditional foes of cricket, Royal and S. Thomas’ colleges will occur when they face off in the second semi-final clash of the Milo Schools Under-20 President’s Cup Knock-out Rugby Championship. With a little bit of home advantage at the Royal College Sports Complex the Reid Avenue side will eagerly look forward to gain sweet revenge over the marauding Thomians, after their 14-21 defeat in the Singer Schools League. The kick-off is at 4.15pm. Like it or not, the winning side will take on the unstoppable Isipathana College team, who advanced to the finals after yesterday’s win, at the same venue next Saturday.

In the quarter-finals Royal defeated a spirited Wesley College outfit 29-21 while the Thomians, making their intentions clear thrashed Zahira College by 43-10. Both sides have their plusses and minuses but today’s game, crucial for both Royal and S. Thomas’, is a do-or-die battle. Both teams claim to have thoroughly calculated their opponent’s weak points but the winner will be the side that commits less mishaps during the game. Whoever claims the win, be it Royal or S. Thomas’, they will have to eventually find an answer to Isipathana’s supernaturalism in seven days to come.
