A No-Confidence motion against Finance Minister Ravi Karunanayake, handed over in March by the Joint Opposition (JO) group, will be taken up for debate on Wednesday.

The No-Confidence motion alleging serious mismanagement of the economy since Mr Karunanayaka took over as Finance Minister, is signed by more than 40 JO MPs.  In the motion, the JO lawmakers allege the Budget presented to the House last November by the Finance Minister consists of misrepresentations which have misled Parliament as well as the public.

MP Bandula Gunawardena of the JO group said Friday that, during the course of the debate, they would reveal to the House some major fraudulent activities that have taken place during Mr Karunanayake’s tenure as Finance Minister.
A vote will be taken at the end of the debate on Wednesday evening.
