A fire broke out at the power backup room in the Bandaranaike International Airport (BIA) yesterday, a duty manager said.
He said the fire was brought under control within 10 minutes and services at the airport continued uninterrupted.
The cause of the fire was believed to be a short-circuit in the electrical system, but investigations are underway to ascertain the cause.

The fire was put out by the Airport and Aviation Service’s fire fighting unit.
