The annual Scrabble Tournament once again kicks off on Saturday, February 27 from 9.30 a.m. – 4 p.m. at the Alzheimer’s Foundation at 110 Ketawalamulla Lane, Colombo 10.

The Foundation is privileged to have world player – Mrs. Shaila Amalean as the facilitator of this event.

Scrabble is one of the many games promoted to stimulate brain activity in order to distance dementia. A number of studies carried out on “brain sport’ has proven that such mentally stimulating activities in early and middle adulthood are strongly connected to reducing the risk of Alzheimer’s Disease. Social aspects of such games can reduce loneliness and depression as well.

Sponsorships are welcome, as many elders who are interested in the game look forward to attending this event. An individual is charged Rs.2,500, while a team of 4 works out to Rs.10,000.

This includes lunch for participants and facilitators only. Fellowship, fun and prizes are on the cards and the Foundation is looking forward to an even better participation this year. Please call the office on any week day between 9 a.m. and 5 p.m. on 2667080 to register.
