Adele has been named as the biggest selling musician for 2015 in the world. The International Federation of the Phonographic Industry (IFPI) made the announcement on 8th February following the tabulation of worldwide sales figures.

Adele has toppled Taylor Swift who held the top spot for 2014. Adele’s album ‘25’ came out in November coupled with the single ‘Hello’ which was huge universally. Meanwhile Ed. Sheeran was rated in second place. At 3 is Taylor Swift, with Justin Bieber coming 4th and One Direction at 5.

Zayn Malik has scored a No: 1 with his debut solo release ‘Pillowtalk’. The 23 year old walked away from the world’ most popular band almost a year ago and berated by diehard fans of the group as they could not digest the news.

But now Zayn who will now go by his first name as an artist, has silenced them all with ‘Pillowtalk’, an electronic/ r&b track straight to the top of the UK singles chart, a week after its release.

The song had a combined sale of 112,000 copies with 4.97 million streams, making it one of the fastest selling songs released this year.

Perhaps one of the reasons why the song is huge is because of the rather risqué video which features Zayn’s current girlfriend Gigi Hadid. ‘Pillowtalk’ is co-written by Zayn with Antony Hannides and Michael Hannides.

The song is produced by MYKL and Levi Lennox. The singles is the first track to be taken off Zayn’s forthcoming debut album ‘Mind Of Mine’ which is to be coincidently released on the first anniversary of his exit from One Direction which is 25th March.

Rihanna is back on the UK chart with ‘Work’ her new single. The reggae/ pop song is the first track to drop from her new album ‘ANTI’. It was leaked online and Rihanna was forced to make it available free for a week.

That cost her, a good entry point as free issues are not counted in the chart make up. Hence ‘Work’ debuted at 13 last week and this week moved up to 4. The song is Rihanna’s 20th top 10 UK hit song.

Craig David is back after an absence of six years with a new song. ‘When The Bassline Drops’ featuring rapper Narstie took a four notch climb to No: 10 to enter the top 10.

It gives the 34 year old a new lease of life after his music virtually dried up. David’s grime track is taken from his forthcoming album ‘Following My Intuition’.

Craig was last on the UK top 10 in 2007 with the song ‘Hot Stuff (Let’s Dance)’ which peaked at No: 7. Little was heard of David until now and since things have brighten up again many artists and would be singers are lining up to work with him.

Jason Derulo was hospitalised in Paris on 6th February after he cut his leg at the nightclub. He was out dancing after one his concerts and required 20 stitches.

Maurice White who led the band Earth Wind & Fire died in Los Angeles on February 4, aged 74 from the effects of Parkinson’s disease. White was the winner of seven Grammy awards.
