The South Korean embassy donated yesterday 221 of books and audiovisual materials on Korea to the Colombo Public Library’s Korea Corner.  South Korean Ambassador Chang Won-sam, Korea International Cooperation Agency (KOICA) Country Director Cho Kyu-chan, library representatives, Korean language students at the Korean Corner and several wellwishers took part at the ceremony.

The Korea Corner was opened in January 2014 in the Colombo Public Library. It is a pleasant space where visitors can watch Korean dramas and K-Pop videos, and read books in various categories about Korea. At the Korea Corner, the Korean language courses are also run by the KOICA from 9 a.m. to noon every Saturday. Currently, about 90 Sri Lankan students learn Korean language.

The South Korean embassy said in a statement yesterday that it plans to expand the Korea Corner to enable more Sri Lankan people to understand Korea and its culture.
