A particular sport played by lasses is the talk of the town these days what with an Asian tournament looming and a just concluded World Cup Down Under. This particular team gathered to take an official photograph before the team took off to take part in an overseas event. At the official photograph this particular official wanted to know whether 13 playing members could stand for the official photograph instead of the tour party of 12. The Big Man had nodded his head in the heat of the moment and when the photograph appeared in the newspapers he was aghast that he had given the ‘OK’. The Big Man is now furious with the lady who had suggested this.

HOME SWEET HOME
Some team members of a leading sport who have been given accommodation at a leading hotel during the duration of a three cornered tussle that is now on in the island has the habit of not staying in their rooms, allocated to them but at home. They however come to the hotel in the mornings and pretend that they had stayed the night at the hotel. The reason for this pretext is to obtain the hotel bills and pocket the money given to them for accommodation. But glad to say that this practice is not done by all team members but only a few. They are not observing the law and do what they want at will.

SUPPORT NEEDED
All is agog at the forthcoming elections of a leading sports body. There are some who are backing the two sides and some of them happen to be the coaches associated with the sport. These groups are working so hard to see that their side wins. The winner will obviously back those who had supported them.

MAKING A FUSS
When a team goes abroad it is the practice to observe ‘pirith’ with the holding of the ‘pirith noola’ according to Buddhist traditions. When this team went abroad a particular lad was seen holding the ‘pirith noole’ rather reluctantly and let go of it before the chanting of ‘pirith’ stopped. Obviously this lad is not a Buddhist. But surely he could have followed the procedures without making a fuss!

PASSING THE BUCK
The skipper of the side had promised some parents that their siblings would be in the side of this popular sport taking part in a three cornered tussle, or at least in the final 15. When the team was announced angry parents wanted to know why their sons were not included in the final. The skipper has passed the buck to the coaches that it was them who had selected the side and not the selectors! Anyway what is this skipper’s connection with parents?

BOOZING OFFICIAL
A town in the suburbs is fast becoming famous for athletics. Recently the athletics association there held its AGM and an official from the governing body also attended the meeting to see that everything went off without a flaw. After the meeting this official was seen enjoying himself to his heart’s content by indulging in big booze session with the winners. Is this the way that a responsible official should behave?
