Dejected son and father

All eyes were on a rider at a recent Pannala motocross as he is a budding sportsman in a popular sport. For seven rounds this sportsman lagged behind and in the final lap he surged ahead and knocked on the vehicle in front and veered ahead to be declared the winner.

It also happens that the father of this budding sportsman is a rich guy and usually has his own way by throwing his money around to get things done.

Even he had come forward in defense of his son. Because of the ‘ho-ha’ created at the prize distribution which followed, the prize was not awarded. Both father and son left the scene dejected.

Singapore debacle

After four months it is learnt that an individual who had accompanied the Sri Lanka cycling team to an event in Singapore is not the official nominated by the Sports Ministry!

The Sports Ministry had nominated another official but the person who accompanied the national team to Singapore was not him. Now an official inquiry is on as how this official accompanied the team.

‘Kela Patharaya’

Sports fans were shocked to read in a ‘Kela Paththara’ circulated in Torrington Square that if a young athlete is to go abroad on an official tour either the mother should sleep with the coach or the coach should be given a substantial amount of money underhand so that the young athlete could be included in the team.

As to who has circulated this ‘Kela Paththaraya’ amongst athletic fans remains a mystery.
