Celebrating the 25th Anniversary of Sri Lankan Singers Association (SLASA) a mega musical extravaganza is being planned at BMICH for January, 31 2016 with the participation of nearly 100 artistes representing different eras from the 1950s to the present.

Sri Lankan Singers Association (SLASA) was established on January 29, 1991, veteran musician Sangeeth Nipun Sanath Nandasiri was installed as first Chairperson of SLASA.

From then till September 2015, five other artistes namely M.S. Fernando, Edward Jayakody, Saman De Silva, Madumadawa Aravinda, and Rohana Bogoda headed the SLASA. Artistes Upali Perera and Derick De Silva have held the SLASA Secretary post over the years.

Veteran singer and musician Keerthi Pasquel had been appointed as the new chairperson of SLASA.

Among its future endeavours SLASA is planning to introduce a new identity card for its members and a number of benefits will be available for those artistes who carry this ID.

Among other plans SLASA is to offer legal support to artistes facing legal issue relating to their works of art, a new health insurance scheme, a pension and full financial assistance in the death of an artiste.

The member singers of SLASA also had agreed to work on social responsibility projects that are beyond mere singing and performance events.
