Galle Face Hotel needs no introduction. Opening its doors after three years of hibernation, the Hotel was re-introduced to Colombo’s urban landscape on October 26.

Corridors and halls which have hosted royalty, clergy and celebrities for the past 150 years have taken a step into the present still however remaining within the hotel’s acclaimed timeless elegance.

A distinguished gathering celebrated the Hotel’s return, with President Maithripala Sirisena and Prime Minister Ranil Wickremesinghe attending the gala event.

Celebrations sprawled across the hotel’s plush locations, offering a glimpse of events to come. Live classical music floated through the ballroom which was bathed in the light of projections dancing on its walls.

The Hotel’s breezy terrace fringed by the Indian Ocean’s waves hosted a swinging retro inspired do.

Speaking at the occasion, Chairman of the Galle Face Hotel, Sanjeev Gardiner said the renovations were more than merely cosmetic. They were guided by the Archaeological Department to preserve the hotel’s historical integrity.

Launching an in-house tour facility, a resident historian is among the new additions, allowing guests to be better informed of the establishment’s history.
