Pegasus Reef Beach Hotel officially launched its latest seafood bar and restaurant, The Fishery, on October 17. Offering diners a versatile fine dining experience, The Fishery sports a lovely atmosphere with all four sides open to the sea breeze, and a deck that boasts spectacular views of sunsets.

At the helm of its spacious, open kitchen is Chef Jayawardena Rajapaksha, whose kangkung special is a must try dish as is the seafood doughnut.

Chef Jayawardena, who specialises in fusion cuisine, says he tried to create something different with the menu.

We were particularly impressed by his Sri Lankan take on cream of pumpkin soup, baked crab and the chilled crab capounata with tomato salsa.

In addition to the set menu, diners are also free to choose their seafood from the boat-shaped deep freezer at the centre of the restaurant and request it cooked according to their tastes.

The restaurant also offers a range of wines and other alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages, including a stylish king-coconut inspired cocktail.

Relaxed ambience

For anyone looking to spoil their significant other to a romantic meal with a personal touch, The Fishery hopes to introduce a cook for your fiancée experience in the near future where they can do so under the guidance of their chefs.

“Our concept is very flexible. Whether you’re looking for fine dining or family dining or a mix, we cater to all,” said Resident Manager, Harsha Jayasinghe.

Located at Pegasus Reef, The Fishery is open every day of the week from 11 a.m. to 11 p.m.
