The Indian Cultural Centre, Colombo is organising ‘Hindi Diwas’ on Monday, September 14, at 4 p.m. at its auditorium at 16/2 Gregory’s Road, Colombo – 7. Hindi Diwas is celebrated on September 14 every year to remember the historic occasion of Hindi written in Devnagari script being approved as an official language by the Constituent Assembly in 1949.

Certificates will be distributed to winners of the competitions held for Hindi students of the Indian Cultural Centre. There will be a variety of cultural programmes by them at the event.

On Friday, September 18, Sargam, an evening of Hindi songs will be presented by Dr. Ajith Jayaratne and his group at the Indian Cultural Centre at 6 p.m. The music is composed by Lassana Jayasekara.
