A quickfire 218 in only 216 balls inclusive of 28 boundaries and four sixes by Pawan Wickramasinghe for NCC against Panadura SC was the highlight of the second day’s play in the Under-23 Division I cricket encounter played at the Panadura Esplanade.

Pawan along with Anuk Fernando, who made a knock of 83 with nine boundaries and a six, put on a massive 263 runs stand for the sixth wicket for NCC to recover from 83 for 5 and end their innings on 374.

The opening day’s play saw Panadura SC, taking first lease of the wicket, being bowled out for 200. Batting the second time they ended the day on 129 for 6. The match will be continued today.Chenutha Kavinda and Yohan Soyza cracked tons helping Navy SC to end in a strong position against Negombo CC at the end of the second day’s play at Welisara.

Chenutha cracked a 137 in only 108 balls with 13 boundaries and seven sixes while Yohan made a 111 with 15 boundaries enabling Navy SC resuming on their overnight score of 153 for 2 to make a mammoth score of 493 for 9 declared. This was in reply to Negombo CC’s score of 145. Negombo CC batting the second time with a deficit of 348 runs was badly placed on 22 for 6 at the end of day two.

Dilshan Ranasinghe slammed a 156 in 197 balls with 14 boundaries and four sixes as Moors SC resuming on their overnight score of 41 for 0 went on to make a score of 388 for 6 on day two against Moratuwa SC when bad light stopped play at De Zoysa Stadium in Moratuwa. This was in reply to Moratuwa SC’s 245 made on day one.

Ragama CC has already taken a first innings lead against Colts CC in the match played at the Colts ground while SSC and Tamil Union too took close first innings leads over Saracens SC and SLPA CC in the matches played at the SSC ground and Kadirana.
