BOC Ran Kekulu’s 2,000 scholarships for achievers of year 5 scholarship examination

Bank of Ceylon (BOC) Ran Kekulu this year is offering 2000 scholarships, each worth Rs.10,000, for high flyers of the year 5 scholarship examination 2015, it said in a media release, adding that it applies to bank account holders.

As a part of the bank’s strategic Corporate Social Responsibility, the BOC conducts this annual programme to support and encourage school children to make an extra effort in their studies. “Simply maintaining a minimum balance of Rs.2,500 or topping up your existing Ran Kekulu account to reach Rs. 2,500 on or before the date of the scholarship examination, which falls on 23rd August 2015, fulfills the eligibility to be considered for BOC Ran Kekulu scholarship,” it said.

Further as a part of this sustainability initiative, the bank said it conducts the Hapana programme island-wide that support and encourage students to pass the year 5 scholarship examination. This programme is conducted at provincial level with the assistance of the Education Ministry. The bank has been involved in this CSR programme since 2000 and has coached over 650,000 students.
