The 24th Milo All Island Schools Netball Championship with the participation of nearly 4000 girls representing 400 teams got underway at the Bernard Aluvihara Stadium in Matale yesterday.

The participating teams playing in the tournament qualified from the qualifying tournaments which were held in 14 centres around the island.The tournament began with the preliminary round matches after which the quarter finals and semi finals are scheduled to be played today and tomorrow morning.

The final of the three age groups Under 14, 16 and 18 are slotted to be played in the evening tomorrow. Defending champions Holy Family Convent Kurunegala who are the champions for the last seven years will be looking forward to retain the title for yet another year. – MSA
