The concert is a collaborative musical venture by colleagues who share a deep love for performing and sharing music both with the audience and with each other. They have chosen the works of Gabriel Fauré, Henri Büsser, and Carl Reinecke for the evening.

A pupil of Charmaine Jayasinghe, Sureka Amerasinghe, and the late Sita Joseph de Saram, Bishopian Sanuja Goonetilleke (DipLCM, Piano) studies Flute Performance at Converse College, USA and won the Young Artist Concerto Competition this year. Sanuja will also perform at the Saarburg Music Festival in Germany this August.

A graduate of the Royal Academy of Music and recipient of the Hon R.A.M awarded by the Royal Academy of Music in 2002, well known teacher Ramya de Livera Perera has been soloist with orchestras at numerous concerts.

A Pre-intern doctor attached to the Professorial Obstetrics and Gynaecology Unit at the Colombo South Teaching Hospital, Sasini Chandrasinghe is an Associate of Trinity College London in both Piano and Cello. As a cellist, she is a member of the Cantando Cello Ensemble and the Symphony Orchestra of Sri Lanka.

Just 14, Amasha Peiris is a student at St. Bridget’s Convent and studies voice under Peshali Yapa and piano under Ramya de Livera Perera.

Flutopia, directed by Sureka Amerasinghe, performs classical to jazz music at many special occasions. Many of the founder members are now professionally qualified and the ensemble continues to expand with new generations of flautists joining in.
