Quarter-finalists found in MCA Division ‘F’ tournament

Tharanga Indika yielded the willow to score a belligerent 115 runs in 81 balls, inclusive of two towering sixes and 16 fours, paved the way for Lankem Ceylon to a resounding 69 runs win over Coutaulds Clothing.  Krishantha Aruna carried his bat in scoring a sparkling unbeaten 114 in 66 balls, inclusive of six hits over the ropes and ten hits passing the boundary, as he single handedly carried Hidaramani Group to a four wickets win over South Asia Gateway Terminal.

Coats Thread Lanka, who finished fourth in group ‘B’, created a big upset by eliminating HSBC ‘C’ (Group A leader), beating them by four wickets, as Ravi Lakshan snapped up six wickets for 12 runs in five overs. The bankers who batted first were shot out for 83 runs in 23.5 overs, the top scorer being extras (28).

A 110 runs partnership for the 2nd wicket between Dilshan Ratnayake (50) and Chitraka Hettiarachchi (53) steered Vallibal Finance to a seven wickets win over MJF Group.
The other note worthy performances came from, B.D.H.P. Madushan from South Asia Gateway Terminal (71 Vs. Hirdaramani Group ), Dimithri Perera from Nations Lanka Finance (71 Vs. Allianz Insurance), Sanjay Edirisinghe from Allianz Insurance (50 vs. Nation Lanka Finance), Askar Mohamed from Toll Global Forwarding (65 Vs. CIC Holdings) and Thilina Suresh of Coats Thread Lanka (53 not out Vs. HSBC ‘C’).

G DIVISION
Former Nalandian Sanjaya Gangodawila scored a sparkling 91 runs in 56 balls, inclusive five sixes and 10 fours propeled the sponsors, Stafford Motor Co.to a massive163 runs win over Mobitel ‘B, in the ‘Honda’ Trophy, MCA ‘G’ division 25 Over League Tournament, continued last weekend.

Gangodawila put on 146 runs for the 4th wicket with Asantha Singappuli (52) as Stafford Motors rode to a high ground score of 205 for 8 in 25 overs after a shaky start (3 for 25).
Avian Technologies was simply clueless against the Deutsche Bank AG, new ball attack of Janith de Silva (4.4-1-8-4) and Praveen Fernando (5-1-20-5), as they shot out for 28 runs in 10.4 overs; the game lasted only 70 minutes and 13.3 overs, DB 29 for 0 in 2.5 overs.

A 112-run opening stand between I. Kahawita (38) and P. Madusanka (76) steered UB Finance to a fine 77 runs win over ACL Cables.
Sanjeewa Jayasinghe from Pearson Lanka performed the first hat-trick of the tournament, bagging 5 for 11 in two overs, thus lifting them to a 23 runs win over Coca Cola Beverages in a 10 overs a side game.

Duminda Thilanka, from Pearson Lanka finished with remarkable figures of 5-1-30-5, as they beat A. Baur & Co. by seven wickets, thus winning a double header.
The tournament will be continued this weekend with a card of 18 matches and on Wednesday with a card of 14 matches.
