For the first time in its history, Royal Institute International School Colombo will organise an Inter-Branch 7s Rugby Tournament. The one-day tournament contested among teams from its Havelock Town, Nugegoda and Maharagama branches will be held at the CR&FC ground in Longdon Place on July 3 from 12.00 onwards.

Three teams each will compete in two categories, the Under-19 and Under-15, where the organisers aim is to promote and develop the game of rugby through the event at Royal Institute, who are competing considerably well at football, basketball and athletics. The tournament has obtained the blessings of G.T. Bandara, the Chairman of Royal Institute, who is a great rugby fan.

The live wire behind organising of the tournament, Inakshi Samarawickrama, the Sports-in-Charge at Royal Institute, surprisingly has received an overwhelming response from the students. The organisers expect to draw a large crowd for the event, including students, teachers, parents and well wishers.
