An evening of Broadway from the Workshop’s best shows

One of Sri Lanka’s largest and oldest theatre troupes, The Workshop Players have time and time again invited local theatre goers to the magic and music of Broadway. Since its inception in 1992 the amateur theatre company, under the guidance of Jerome De Silva have performed plays and full length musicals as close as possible to West End and Broadway productions; adapted for the local stage.

This July, the Workshop Players, together with the Past Pupils’ Association of Musaeus College present “The Best of Broadway”. The evening will be a collection of excerpts from some of the most beloved musicals of all time from the group’s repertoire of productions.

With a diverse and dynamic cast of varied ages, the group will recreate some of the most memorable of their theatrical escapades, many which resulted in sold out shows and lasting memories in the minds of many of Colombo’s theatre lovers.

Look out for song and dance numbers from Broadway classics such as Cats, Les Miserables, Oliver! Jesus Christ Superstar, The Lion King, The Sound of Music, The Phantom of the Opera, Evita and more.

“The Best of Broadway” will go on the boards of the Musaeus College Auditorium on July 25 at 7.30 pm .Tickets priced at Rs. 3000, 2500, 1500, 1000 (balcony) and 750 (balcony) are available at Commons, Tea Avenue (Barnes Place), Cargills Food City (Staples Street) and Musaeus College (Rosmead Place entrance)
