Rotarian George A. Jesuthasan, a multiple Paul Harris Fellow, was ceremonially installed as the new District Governor 2016/2017 at an elaborate ceremony held at the Grand Ballroom, Galadari Hotel, Colombo, on Saturday, May 23, amidst a distinguished gathering of Rotarians.

Rotarian Jesuthasan had his primary education at St Henry’s College, Jaffna and his secondary education at Manipay Hindu College. While in school he took a keen interest in scouting, soccer and cricket. Rtn. Jesuthasan is a Chartered Electrical Engineer, specialised in Telecommunications and is a Member of the Institution of Engineering and Technology UK and Member of the Institution of Engineers Sri Lanka.Additionally, he also holds a Master of Science degree from the University of Sri Jayawardanepura in Real Estate Valuation and Management.

After serving overseas, he returned to the country and established his own business, Micro Bytech International (Pvt)Ltd, providing communication solutions for both voice and data as well as lightning protection solutions. He also serves on the boards of Eve Holding (Pvt) Ltd and East Lanka Resorts (Pvt) Ltd and is a Partner of Micro Bytech Trading.

He was also an active member of the Jaycees, and was Executive Vice President of the Junior Chamber Sri Lanka in 1995. In 1997, he joined the Rotary Club of Colombo South and served the club as Secretary, Treasurer, and Vocational Services Director respectively. He was elected as the club President for 2006/7. He served the District as Assistant Governor in 2010/11, District Secretary in 2011/12 and District Chairman- Club Administration in 2012/13.

During the last 17 years of his Rotary membership he was awarded three district recognitions as the best Vocational Services Director in 2003/4, Outstanding Assistant Governor in 2010/11 and won the coveted PDG Gemunu Gunatillake Memorial Trophy for being the “Most Outstanding Rotarian of the year” 2011/12.
