An attempt to release Udayakantha Warnasuriya’s film ‘Gindari’ removing Suneth Malinga Lokuhewa’s ‘Spandhana’ was restrained following an order issued by Colombo District Court last week.

Removing ‘Spandhana’ which was released on March from the theatres, Udayakantha’s second installment of Bahubuthayo was to be released in the same theatres from April 17. But the court prevented this attempt following a plaint filed by the Spandhana filmmaker.

The court made an order on the theatre owners that the screening of “Spandhana’ be continued and subsequently the chairman of the National Film Corporation has issued a letter to the theatre owners to this effect.
