A trip to Galle

We went on a trip to Galle on February 27, 2015. It was an educational tour. I went with my friends, class teacher and parents.
We went by bus. We had so much fun in the bus. We sang and danced joyfully in the bus. First we visited the temple at Kalutara. It was a very big temple.

We took photos there. Then we went to the Turtle Hatchery at Telwatte. There were many big and small turtles. They explained about the growth of the turtles. The turtles are conserved at the hatchery. Then we went to the Hikkaduwa beach. It is a beautiful coral island.

We saw many tourists surfing on the sea. We went on a boat-ride and saw the coral reefs and fish. The coral reefs reduce sea erosion. We enjoyed a lot at the beach. Next we had our lunch at a restaurant. There was a children’s park nearby so we had our lunch and played in the park.
After that we went to the Galle Fort. It was built by the Dutch. Therefore it is also known as the Dutch Fort. We saw the lighthouse and the old buildings there. We saw the Galle Cricket Stadium too.

We returned home at night and it was an unforgettable trip for me.

The moon

The moon comes out at night. Some people think that there is a rabbit in the moon. It’s a myth.
The first person to step on the moon was  Mr. Neil Armstrong. One cannot stand on the moon, as one starts to float because there is less gravity on the moon. The moon has no light of its own. The sunlight reflects on the moon.

There are different stages of the moon, such as full moon, half moon, quarter moon and no moon. The full moon is seen every month in Sri Lanka and we call it Poya Day.  Our class teacher told us to observe the moon from March 18 till April 18 and mark it in our ENV books.
The moon is white in colour. With the moon, the stars also come out. People have made star constellations such as Big Bear,
Big Dog, Southern Cross etc. In those days people did not have electricity so the only thing was the moon. So my dear friends’ nature is a nice thing.

My favourite movie

I have watched many movies but my favourite movie is ‘Maharaja Gemunu’. I watched it twice because it was so interesting. The film halls were crowded as it showed our history to us.
The war between King Gemunu and Elara was shown in it. The valuable clothes they wore, the old customs and ministers were seen in it. Our respectable priests showed the correct path to them king. He obeyed them and listened to them.
So it was a great movie. We learnt many lessons from it. Let’s watch more children’s movies in the future.

Needy

We need to help needy people.
The kind of people who are called needy are those who are old, sick, feeble and poor.
We can also be needy. If you help someone needy then you can go to Nirvana. We can give needy people water, food, clothes and books.
The most powerful thing is to talk kind words and show love and care.
There are thousands and thousands of needy people in our world.
Be kind to everyone needy, to make our world nice.

Vesak
Vesak is a religious festival. Buddhists celebrate Vesak festival every year. People decorate their houses with streamers and Vesak lanterns. They illuminate their houses well. Vesak day commemorates the important events that took place in the life of  Lord Buddha.

First comes the birth of Prince Siddhartha at Lumbini in Nepal. The second event was ascetic Gauthama’s supreme attainment of Buddhahood. The third event was Lord Buddha’s Parinibbana over 2500 years ago at Kusinara. Buddhists give alms to monks and dansals. On this day many religious activities are done, such as .sil campaigns, dansals, Bakthi gee, pandols (thoran) and lanterns. This is a sign of sharing with joy and peace with the people. The Buddhists of Sri Lanka decorate their houses, public places and arrange various cultural events to bring happiness to everyone on that day.
The Lord Buddha loved nature very much.
He didn’t kill animals. He loved all human beings. All people go to temples on that day. Vesak day is one of the biggest events in the Buddhist calendar.

I am a sad kite
I am a kite. I was made of paper and bamboo sticks. My owner and
his friends made so many kites.
My owner tied a string to me.
These days are windy so they make kites. I was the most beautiful of all. My owner released the thread. I was flying above them all. I flew up to the heavens. My owner was very happy. A strong wind started to blow. I went to the top of a tree and my owner was very sad.
I have to be on the tree till I die. I see the other kites flying happily.

My
My favourite hobby is surfing the internet. It is a very interesting hobby. To surf the internet you need a connection like dongal, modem, router etc.
After you connect to internet via browsers like Google Chrome, Mozzilla, Firefox, Internet Explorer, Operamini, Safari, we can go to sites such as Google, Youtube, Yahoo, Gmail and many others.
The Internet is very useful to our life. We should know to use it wisely and to a limit. We should not go to unwanted sites and get exposed to corrupt stuff.
So let us get the maximum benefit of the Internet to improve lives and our knowledge fruitfully.

An enjoyable trip
We went on our annual school trip on January 27. We came early to school and entered the bus, and started our journey.
At first we went to the Kelaniya Temple. There were a lot of people who had come to worship Lord Buddha. Next we went to the Parliament which is surrounded by the Diyawanna Oya. We were given a cup of tea in the morning from a canteen in the Parliament.
Then we went to Ape Gama and we had lunch there. Next we went to the Meteorological Department.
At last we went to the Vihara Maha Devi Park. There we ate ice-cream and played games with friends. As we were allowed to bring cameras, we took funny photographs of us.
While returning, we danced for songs inside the bus. This is the most enjoyable trip I have ever gone on and I will never forget this unforgettable experience.

Ants

Ants are tiny
Tiny than a mousey
But…they…are
Hardworking as anybody can be…

On and on
they searched for food
Until…they’re…found!
A big large orange
Which a rat can lift
But why can’t a poor
Ant lift?…

On and on they struggled
They mumbled and mumbled
And mumbled
Together with strength and unity
One, two, three, four, five, six, seven,
Eight, nine, …TEN!
Ten large ants lifted the orange!

So they walked and walked
To the colony
Until they ended the
day-journey
So they had a happy day,
But they’re tiny I told you
So they can’t just
Gobble it up!

Birds
Birds are beautiful,
They have feathers
They live in nests
They say chip chip chip
I saw different coloured birds.
