Cabinet approves Rs 42m for Dhamma school teachers’ uniforms

Cabinet on Wednesday approved Rs 42 million to purchase textiles for uniforms of Dhamma school teachers this year, said Cabinet spokesman Dr Rajitha Senaratne.

From 2004, Government is implementing a programme of providing uniforms to voluntary teachers in Dhamma schools. A proposal was put forward to the Cabinet by Minister of Public Administration, Provincial Councils & Democratic Administration, Karu Jayasuriya to purchase 30,000 jacket material and handloom saris as uniforms for Dhamma school teachers.

These uniforms will be purchased from the Department of Textiles.
