Creative Solutions in collaboration with Cambio Software Engineering recently completed a successful 24 hour Hackathon titled “Innovate 2k15”. Eight teams from both Creative Solutions and Cambio Software Engineering took part in the event.

Cash prizes worth Rs. 300,000 including an individual prize for the most socially active participant were on offer. A panel of adjudicators consisting of software architects and businessmen scored the teams based on innovation, applicability, originality, growth potential, sustainability of the concept, code accuracy, compactness and the commercial aspects of the project, according to a media release from Creative Solutions.

The event witnessed teams excitedly grouping together, discussing, debating and bouncing off interesting ideas and working animatedly on their projects. The final leg of the Hackathon saw the competition growing intense as the teams battled it out to complete and present an innovative and marketable solution to the judges.

The team “The Taggers” emerged as the winners of the Hackathon bagging the first prize of Rs. 125,000. The concept behind their winning project, comprised an application that presented date sensitive offers and promotions. The solution enabled to not only validate the authenticity of the merchants but also provided them with the opportunity to showcase their offers and multiple promotions to users, through a free, easily accessible mobile friendly solution.

The second prize won by the team “Griffin” consisted of a solution that monitored and tracked electrical energy consumption and enabled the users to get comprehensive reports on a daily, monthly or projected basis.

The third prize was awarded to the team “Airborne” which had developed a solution to assist organisations with their targeted cross-channel marketing promotions.

Reshika Fernando of Creative Solutions was picked as the most active person on social media of the event having over 5000 followers on Twitter.
