Vidyartha provided the shocks on another rain-shortened day at the Pallekele Stadium. 52 for 5 overnight, they fought hard to take the total to 160 for 9 before declaring just prior to 4 o’clock. Ravishka Upananda, who made an unbeaten 59 that contained eight fours and a six, was the toast of the Vidyartha team.
Tharindu Dissanayake showed some determination in making 39.

Sivakumar Tyron, predictably, was the pick of the bowlers with 4 for 43. Mendis had two, but went for a few. The Sylvestrians were rocked by the pace duo of Namal Perera and Amila Madusanka. In next to no time, they were 34 for 5. However skipper Hansamal Perera and his brother Manjula weathered the storm and carved the score to 63 without further loss.
