The 32 nd ‘Battle of the Rocks’ encounter between Maliyadeva College Kurunegala and St.Anne’s College Kurunegala ended in a tame draw at the Welagedara Stadium Kurunegala yesterday. Maliyadeva resuming from their overnight total of 153 for 5 declared their innings at 234 for 9 just before the lunch break and gained a slender lead of 30 on first innings..The overnight pair of Damitha Silva (29) and skipper Prabash Keppetipola ( 65 in 60 balls with 3 sixes and 6 fours) put on 66 runs for the sixth wicket before they departed. Spinner Piumal Sinhawansa captured 6 for 79 for the Annites.

St. Anne’s began their second innings 21 minutes before lunch and progressed to 16 with out loss at lunch. Then they batted through out the remaining two sessions for 261 minutes and ended the day at 214 for 8 at the stumps in 63.2 overs. Pubudu Ganegama ,who made 49 in the first innings batted well again to score 52 in 75 balls with 1 six and 6 fours. Vanitha Wanninayaka also posted a fighting unbeaten 52 in 87 balls with1 six and 7 fours.
